We will be happy to answer all your questions.

What is the difference between a natural pregnancy and a surrogate pregnancy?

A surrogate pregnancy progresses in the same way as a natural pregnancy that occurs following an embryo transfer via IVF treatment. The primary difference is that the embryo implanted in the surrogate’s uterus does not carry her genetic material.

How is an embryo transferred to the surrogate?

The embryo transfer procedure for a surrogate is identical to that of any IVF patient. The process is performed within a cryoprotocol, typically between the 18th and 21st day of the surrogate’s menstrual cycle. It is carried out in a medical facility under the supervision of a fertility specialist and embryologist. The procedure is painless and lasts approximately 20 minutes.

Where does the surrogate live during pregnancy?

Our Surrogacy Center requires surrogates to reside in Abu Dhabi from the time of embryo transfer until delivery. The Center provides fully furnished accommodations, equipped with all essential amenities, including bed linens, household appliances, and wireless internet.

Can a surrogate meet with her relatives during pregnancy?

Surrogates are allowed to live with one of their children during pregnancy. However, additional family members cannot stay in the provided accommodations to ensure a peaceful and comfortable environment for all surrogates.

Can intended parents request specific conditions for the surrogate?

All obligations and conditions for the surrogate are outlined in a legally binding notarized agreement. Any additional requests from the intended parents must be reviewed by a notary to ensure they comply with legal and ethical standards before being included in the agreement.

Who covers the surrogate’s food and medical expenses?

Surrogates receive a monthly stipend for improved nutrition, and all necessary medications are supplied by our Center.

Are surrogates allowed to engage in sexual activity during pregnancy?

Once a surrogate has passed all medical examinations and enters the program, sexual activity is strictly prohibited. This precaution is taken to eliminate the risk of sexually transmitted infections, gynecological complications, or any threat to the pregnancy. Additionally, uterine contractions caused by intercourse could result in miscarriage. The surrogate is responsible for adhering to this medical guideline.

Can the intended parents refuse the child born through surrogacy?

In the UAE, the intended parents are legally recognized as the child’s parents from birth. Abandoning the child is not an option, as it carries serious legal consequences.
